August 31st, 2010 by admin

Thomas Edison is one of the most famous patent holders. Over one thousand are associated with his name, including the electric light bulb and phonograph. Abraham Lincoln was the only president to have one. He was issued one in 1849. Mary Anderson received one for the windshield wiper even though they did not become popular until after it expired, seventeen years later. The first African American  male holder was Thomas Jennings for a dry cleaning process. The first African American woman to receive one was Sarah E. Goode, for a bed that folded into a cabinet. All of these people will be remembered for their unique inventions.
