Medical biotechnology deals with the healthcare and pharmacy sectors. Medical biotechnology has tremendous humanitarian implications, because a small discovery made by any medical biotechnologist can save millions of lives on the earth. Medical biotechnology includes work in such areas as hematology, bacteriology, mycology, virology, parasitology, immunology, serology, immunohematology (blood banking), clinical chemistry (including endocrinology and toxicology), and urinalysis as they relate to clinical laboratory practice.
