My little three year old son touched the burner on our stove when it was red hot. Luckily he just burned the tip of his pointer finger. I immediately brought him to the sink and he held his finger under the cold water for about five minutes. He screamed the whole time. After I took his finger out from under the cold water, he stopped crying. I think he thought the water was causing the pain. Then within a minute he started crying again. I used a first degree burn treatment that I had in the first aid kit. I think it might be a second degree burn though.
