While it would seem logical that all doctors be covered by Medical Malpractice Insurance, data suggests that many are not. Some states do not require it at all, and others appear to be lax in enforcement of existing regulations. What’s with that? I have to carry automobile insurance or face serious consequences. Logical, right? If I injure someone because I make a mistake and hit another car or a pedestrian, I am expected to assume responsibility for my actions and pay the price for that mistake. Just why should any doctor, in any state, not have to face responsibility for making an error?
