Stage Hypnosis Commands and Suggestions

January 25th, 2010 by admin

In Stage hypnosis it is better to think of suggestions more as commands. The definition of the word ‘suggestion’ in the hypnotic sense is: the subconscious realisation of an idea.  ‘Suggestion’ assumes that the receiver has a choice. ‘Command’ assumes that they have little to no choice. On stage, you want the volunteer to believe that you have special powers and the ability to hypnotise them. If you are anything short of authoritarian then you will not have the success you desire and the volunteer will not be hypnotised. (By the way, you can be both pleasant and authoritarian at the same time.)
